According to the federal Fair Housing Act, it is illegal to consider race, religion, national origin, sex, disability, or family status in rental, sales, lending, or homeowner’s insurance decisions. Under the Minnesota Human Rights Law, it is also illegal to discriminate based ln one’s creed, sexual or affectionate orientation, marital status, and receipt of public assistance.
