Children's Programs & Services
Children's programThroughout the year, we offer regular and special programming for kids of all ages. During the summer, we have many programs and a reading program to keep your kids excited about reading. Come say hello to the fish, play in the Little Room, visit the rocket ship, and pick out a new load of books, music, and movies to borrow.

Play and Learn
See the stars and pretend you're an astronaut at our Planetarium! The Play and Learn Space was funded by a grant from the Minnesota Department of Education using federal funding, Library Services and Technology Act [LS 00-13-0024-13].

Rock, Rattle, and Rhyme Storytime
    Mondays at 6:15pm beginning September 11
For children 0-3 and their caregivers. Enjoy rhymes, songs, sign language, books, and play time to learn early literacy and socialization skills. No registration necessary; come when you can.

Storytime for 2-6s
     Tuesdays at 10:15am beginning September 12
Read, play, sing, talk, and write together with stories and activities to develop early literacy skills for toddlers and preschoolers. Siblings and daycare groups welcome. Ages 2-6.

Programs for Families
Opera Storytelling
     Saturday, September 23, 11am-12pm
Hear stories read and sung by trained opera singers from the Minnesota Opera and complete an art project to go with the story. Fun for the whole family. A Minnesota Legacy program sponsored by Minnesota’s Arts & Cultural Heritage Fund.

Family Cooking Night: Spring Rolls

     Thursday, September 28, 6-7:30pm
This hands-on class brings children and their families together to learn about healthy eating, planning meals as a family and working together in the kitchen. Sponsored by U of MN Extension.

Programs for Young Children
Obstacle Course
     Wednesday, September 20, 10:30-11:30am
Drop in anytime to navigate tunnels and hoops, hop down a path, and weave through cones in this full-body movement experience. Ages 2-6.

     Thursdays, September 28, 10:30-11:30am
Explore topics in science, technology, engineering, and math through hands-on play, experimentation, (and books!) Ages 3-6. Registration required.

Maker Morning: Textures

     Friday, September 29, 10:30-11:30am
Create, build, and tinker in a relaxed, exploratory, and playful atmosphere. Ages 3-6.

Programs for School Age Children
Crazy 8s Math Club
     Wednesdays, September 13, 20, 27; October 4,11, 25; November 1, 8, 4-5pm
3rd-5th graders are invited to join Bedtime Math's Crazy 8s Math Club! Crazy8s meets for 8 weeks and is for kids of ALL math abilities--this is not math tutoring or homework help, or gifted programming. It is about getting kids to love math in an after-school setting. Call the library to register after September 13.
